“Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house.
Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the
floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have
room enough for it.” Malachi 3:10

The Joy of Stewardship
Stewardship…ever wonder what that word means? Literally, it means, “taking
care of something that doesn’t belong to you.” For example, I have a pet sitter
who comes into my home when we’re away on vacation and takes care of my
dogs. She feeds, waters, medicates, and does whatever needs to be done in our
absence. In other words, she manages the dogs while we’re away. Once we’ve
returned, she surrenders them back to us without question. You see, she understands
that we have entrusted her with our treasured pets just as God trusts us
to be the managers of the treasures he bestows upon us.
Bottom line: God owns everything. He is the source of everything and we are
the managers, not the owners of His gifts. Once we acknowledge this fact, we
allow Him to become the Lord of our money and our possessions. And it is with
this realization that we become liberated for we no longer have the mindset of
“this is mine because I’ve worked hard for it so I’ll do whatever I want with it.”
When we take an ownership attitude, our possessions end up owning us. We
lose the pure joy of what God has given us and we end up playing God. Now I
don’t know about you, but I’m not very good at that role.
In the Bible, there are over 2,300 verses that deal with possessions. You see,
God watches the way we handle possessions which affects our relationship with
Him. Let me say it again, God owns everything we have, and as owner of everything,
He expects us to give a meaningful percentage back. Why, you ask? Because
He wants to continue to bless us, and by trusting Him, we become less focused
on materialism and can experience the joy of His generosity. And as
someone I consider to be very wise often says, “You cannot out give God; try it,
you cannot out give God!”

Just as John Wesley’s heart was “strangely warmed” at Aldersgate, Wesley curriculum challenges students to be immersed in the love of God’s own heart and encourages them to complete heart holiness.  Wesley curriculum is also practical in helping students transfer that holiness to real life where they can share the all-encompassing love of God to the world for whom Christ died.  Wesley curriculum combines over 100 years of curriculum development with innovative change in methods and material. FUMC children and teachers K—5th grade are appreciating these Sunday School  lessons that have a firm foundation in Scripture as they study God’s Word.

Clean the Temple Challenge

The Seekers Sunday School class (2nd-5th grade) recently learned about King Hezekiah. We found in the book of 2nd Kings that Hezekiah was the son of King Ahaz of Judah.  Ahaz had neglected the Temple, the place of worship for God's people. When Hezekiah became King he repaired and restored the Temple to be a place worthy of God. The Seekers Sunday school class took some dusting spray and some rags and cleaned the entrance area to Wesley Hall,
including dusting the legs of furniture. We would like to
challenge other members, especially other Sunday School classes to pick an area of the church that needs cleaning and bring some rags to church one Sunday and let's restore our entrances, classrooms and worship areas to a 'like new' condition.

Thank a Missionary!
It takes many people to do God's work. Whether God's work is a Fun Run, a booth on the Square on Country Day, or a Fall Festival is perhaps a debatable point, however, funds generated and good will maintained help to further God's church. Grateful thanks to Pete Hanson, Judy Zuckerbrow, John Sprunck, Chris Allen, J.W. Burkey, Cathy Cox, Richard Coffey, Vickie and Todd Marsh, Mary Jo Barrett, Mary Gray, Bev Blake, Carol Hanson, Dale Curtis, Vervestine Kidd, JR and Traphene Hickman, Debbie Gallagher and Ella and Elysa Barton who volunteered to man the Booth on the square and also to those who stopped by and stayed to help! These folks helped put the face and presence of our church in our community!
The 17th Annual Mission Fun Run takes a multitude of people to staff! Trish Craft and Doris Childres worked with our sponsors. Jason Covarrubias provided technical assistance and organized the youth to help out. Howard Zuckerbrow provided and drove a vehicle to provide assistance to our runners. The Cedar Hill Police Department protected our runners. Michael Hodges provided Audio equipment and provided music and a festive air! E.J. Mynhier was our announcer.  Zach Davis started our race. Greg Spivey, Ryan Spivey, Elysa Barton, Sharon Swanson, Sydni Greenfield, Ella Barton, Agustina Dannenberg, Pat Schlosser, Tammy Philson, Amy Sprunck, Jennifer Jones, Becky Miller, Chris Hinton,
Tammy Easterling and Grayson Easterling provided registration, hospitality and generally “ran” the race.
Most of our sponsors have been with us for many years. If you visit these organizations during the year, please mention that you appreciate their sponsorships! They have been very faithful to our cause even when some years it may have been difficult. Our sponsors this year were A & E Real Estate Services, Chick-fil-A, Tammy Easterling's Tastefully Simple Gourmet Foods, Clark Dental Group, David J. Hageman, D.D.S., Lish Law Firm, AG Patel, M.D., Dave Dickerson & Associates, KRK Technologies, Panera Bread, Straight Line Collision, and Clark-Patton Insurance Agency, Inc. These wonderful sponsors not only paid to be sponsors, they also included something to be put in our runners' “Goodie bags.”  This was truly a gigantic effort from many missionaries, and if your name was missed, it wasn't intentional! Please remember
to sign in for events! You are always noticed and appreciated!  We have been requested to make a list of those involved with our church, children and family members of church people who are in service to our country. We also need a list of those who are in school locally and away from home. There are a couple of groups in our church that would like to send care packages. Please call Charity in the church office to give a name and address of these folks!
In August, the Cedar Hill Food Pantry received a matching grant for $10,000 to purchase a much needed truck for food pick up at the North Texas Food Bank, and at the stores that donate large quantities of food. The truck that is presently used will no longer be available after January 1. If the community can raise $10,000 to match this grant, then the Food Pantry will have a vehicle to transport food. If you wish to support this effort, please send a check to the church office marked Cedar Hill Food Pantry – Truck so that we can gather all funds together and send one big check to the Food Pantry! We have until January 1 to match this grant!
